WHY I AM THANKFUL FOR MY ACNE!
Okay, okay I know WHAT? Why am I saying I am thankful for my acne? Well just like everyone has experiences in the world to make them who they are, acne is part of my journey. So here is a small blog post for today that tell you some of the reasons as to why I am thankful for acne.
- AWARENESS: it has made me more aware of the products that I put on and In my body. Everything works in a cycle. So if you’re going to want health skin, you’re going to have to keep your skin healthy and not use products with a bunch of unknown chemicals that aren’t good for your body. With the being said you’re also going to have to put healthy foods inside your body that’ll help better your skin. Foods like whole grains, unprocessed fruits and veggies antioxidants ect. These can comes from brown rice, tomato’s, avocados, pumpkin seeds, turkey, salmon and other kinds of fatty fish as well as nuts.
- LISTEN: I have learned to listen to my body! Back in high school, I would constantly GO, GO, GO. It was nonstop. Looking back, I can see why my skin wasn’t the greatest, that and hormones. But listening to your body and resting when you need rest will help you, a lot as well as It’ll help keep your stress levels down, which will help prevent breakouts. As far as the skin is concerned, lack of sleep causes the stress hormone cortisol to be released, which in turn encourages inflammation in the skin, causing flare-ups in conditions like acne, psoriasis, and even eczema. So it is recommended that you get anywhere from 7-9 hours of sleep each night.
- HYDRATE: I have learned hydrating your body has so many benefits. One being having healthy skin. I now drink a gallon of water a day. Yes, you will have to pee a lot but your body adapts to it. Hydrating your skin can make your aging process appear slower because it helps maintain the skins elasticity. Staying hydrated also helps your body get rid of the toxins in your skin. It also balance your skins sebum production. When you aren’t drinking enough water the skin will send signals to your glands to produce more oil as a defense mechanisms. So drink your water!
- LOVE: Because of acne I have learned to love my skin. I have learned that I am not the only one who goes through skin breakouts or flare ups. Everyone goes through it, and its nothing to be embarrassed about. We are all humans and we are not perfect. There will be days that I just want to hide my face, because I have a huge breakout, but I can’t let it affect my life. Just properly take care of it and it will eventually go away. With loving my skin, I have learned to take care of it, apply that SPF on your skin, moisturizer and enjoy being beautiful in your skin, because you only get one!
